कानपुर। ईस्ट जोन के रेलबाजार थाना क्षेत्र में हुई हिस्ट्रीशीटर जाहिद खंूटी के हत्या अभियुक्त राजू करिया को बीती रात पुलिस ने मुठभेड़ में दबोच लिया। उसके कब्जे से एक तमंचा .315 बोर, एक जिंदा कारतूस एवं सर्जिकल ब्लेड बरामद हुए है। डीसीपी ईस्ट सत्यजीत गुप्ता ने बताया कि राजू करिया के विरुद्ध हत्या, चोरी, गैंगस्टर सहित लगभग 38 आपराधिक मुकदमे दर्ज हैं। 29 मई की शाम खंूटी की परिजनों ने हत्या का आरोप लगाते हुये हंगामा करते हुये वीआईपी रोड को जाम किया था। मौके पर डीसीपी ईस्ट सत्यजीत गुप्ता व एडीसीपी शिवा सिंह ने मौके पर पहुंच कर कार्रवाई आश्वासन देते हुये जाहिद खूंटी के परिजनों को शांत कराया था।
पुलिस को हत्या के मुकदमे में वांछित अभियुक्त की सूचना प्राप्त हुई थी। चेकिंग के दौरान संदिग्ध को रोकने का प्रयास करने पर उसने पुलिस टीम पर फायर कर दिया। आत्मरक्षार्थ पुलिस की जवाबी कार्रवाई में अभियुक्त राजू करिया के पैर में गोली लगी, जिसके बाद उसे गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया। गिरफ्तार अभियुक्त की पहचान राजू करिया (28 वर्ष), निवासी थाना बादशाही नाका, कानपुर नगर के रूप में हुई। पूछताछ में अभियुक्त ने दिनांक 29 मई 2026 को ग्वाल टोली मकबरा निवासी हिस्ट्रीशीटर जाहिद खूँटी की हत्या करना स्वीकार किया। उसके विरुद्ध हत्या, चोरी, गैंगस्टर सहित लगभग 38 आपराधिक मुकदमे दर्ज हैं। अग्रिम विधिक कार्यवाही की जा रही है।

Zahid Khunti’s murder accused arrested in encounter

Kanpur. Raju Karia, accused in the murder of history-sheeter Zahid Khunti, which took place in Railbazar police station area of East Zone, was caught by the police in an encounter last night. One pistol .315 bore, one live cartridge and surgical blade have been recovered from his possession. DCP East Satyajit Gupta said that about 38 criminal cases including murder, theft, gangster etc are registered against Raju Karia. On the evening of May 29, Khunti’s family members created a ruckus and blocked VIP Road, alleging murder. DCP East Satyajit Gupta and ADCP Shiva Singh reached the spot and pacified the family members of Zahid Khunti by assuring action. The police had received information about an accused wanted in a murder case. When the suspect tried to stop him during checking, he opened fire on the police team. In self-defence, the accused Raju Kariya was shot in the leg in retaliatory action by the police, after which he was arrested. The arrested accused was identified as Raju Kariya (28 years), resident of Police Station Badshahi Naka, Kanpur Nagar. During interrogation, the accused admitted to murdering history-sheeter Zahid Khunti, resident of Gwal Toli Tomb, on 29 May 2026. There are about 38 criminal cases registered against him including murder, theft, gangster etc. Advance legal action is being taken.
